- Do I need to register as a contractor with the City of Stillwater?
-
General contractors are not required to register. However, all trades such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sign, street work contractors and structure move contractors are required to register and keep an active annual registration to perform work within the city limits.
- How do I submit a commercial building permit application for alteration, remodel or addition?
-
Typically, most alterations and structural repairs can be processed through the submission of an Application for Commercial/Industrial Permit (PDF). In some cases, changes-in-use can be reviewed through this process instead of the commercial use-by-right process. Ask if a change-in-occupancy permit is required and which process must be used to submit the application.
One paper set and one electronic set of plans must be submitted with all commercial building permit applications.
Commercial remodels require the Application for Commercial/Industrial Permit (PDF) along with three sets of plans and the plan review fee based upon the valuation of the remodel.
Commercial additions require the Application for Commercial/Industrial Permit (PDF) along with three sets of plans. The plan review fee based upon the valuation of the remodel. If the addition is more than 25 percent of the original building footprint, contact a Community Development to discuss requirements.
- How do I submit a commercial building permit application for an undeveloped tract of land?
-
Stillwater uses a commercial use-by-right process. This process provides for the concurrent review of the proposed building plans, site and civil plans as well. The Commercial Use-By-Right Submittal Packet (PDF) should be completed in its entirety and submitted to Community Development.
- How do I schedule a pre-application meeting for a commercial project?
-
Contact a representative from Community Development by phone or email digitals@stillwater.org.
