City Clerk's Office

The city manager appoints the city clerk with the approval of the Stillwater City Council. The city clerk serves as the custodian of the City's seal and archives, some of which date back to the 1880s.

City Clerk Responsibilities:

  • Attend Stillwater City Council and Trust Authority meetings.
  • Record, transcribe and prepare the official City Council and Trust Authority meeting minutes.
  • Archive in record books original ordinances and resolutions passed by the governing body.
  • Attest and affix the seal of the City to documents as required by law or by ordinance.
  • Preside over bid openings and prepare bid tabulations.
  • Issue business licenses and registrations as required by ordinance.
  • Process open records requests.
  • Keep the original seal of the City of Stillwater.
  • Receive lawsuits and tort claims.
